Service Education Course Introduction

    Curriculum basis : National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology Service Education Implementation Measures

    Executive Unit : Office of Student Affairs /Campus Life Coaching Center

    Course credits : Required by the school, one academic year, zero credits

    Objects of implementation : The second-skilled students in the daytime department, first-year students from the Four-year technical program

    Course implementation : Implementation in the first and second semesters, 36 hours per semester

Course category

    Professional Services Education : Integrating into the professionalism of academic units and the principle of serving the educational concept

    Environmental Service Education : The principle of constructing service and learning concepts and caring for the campus living environment.

    Social Service Education : The principle is to go outside the school to provide various auxiliary services of social welfare

Performance assessment

Those who complete the course hours and submit the service experience report according to the regulations will be evaluated as "Passed," those who fail to achieve the results will be evaluated as "Failed.

  1. The service hours shall be settled in the semester and not accumulated in the following semester.
  2. Students taking service education courses who cannot attend must request leave according to the regulations. If the number of absenteeism hours exceeds one-ninth of the total class hours in the whole semester, the semester's grade will not pass the evaluation.

Tutor Counseling System Introduction

Our students are in high school, college, and graduate school. Students are in their adolescence and are at a critical time in their academic, dating, and career planning and development. The mentorship system is an essential part of student's education during this study period. The mentorship system is a necessary part of students' study because the mentors can get to know the students and understand their needs through teaching, coursework, and life, and then provide timely assistance or referrals through their experience or combine internal and external resources to provide students with counseling, career development, professional learning, service learning, and life education.

  1. Instructor System

    1. The Department Chair The Department Chair will lead the Department Chair to promote school affairs and assist the Chair in dealing with student issues and will convene and chair the Department Chair's meeting at least once per semester.

    2. Class instructors Each department will set up class instructors in classes or appropriate groups. Each class will have at least one class instructor, and two instructors may be assigned to work together in the specialties (first-year student to junior). They will assist with academic counseling, problem-solving, and life care.

    3. Outstanding Tutor Selection To reward tutors who are dedicated and have excellent counseling performance, the Office of the Dean of Students regularly announces the selection method every year. The Life Counseling and Education Center of the Office of the Dean of Students will compile the recommendations, select three winners for the academic year, and award them with medals and prizes.     4. Life coach/learning planner (care) teacher The Student Counseling and Education Center of the Office of Student Affairs assigns professional student counseling staff (Student Counseling Innovation Workforce) to assist in student life counseling, handling and contacting students in case of injury or illness and assisting class instructors in promoting various academic counseling tasks.

  2. Tutor Study

    The Office of Academic Affairs regularly organizes meetings, workshops, and seminars for all instructors, including case studies on student counseling and experience sharing in handling incidents, to enhance their counseling-related knowledge.

  3. Counseling Resources

    1. Tutor-Student Interactive Platform System : Tutors can log in with their school account and password to view the basic personal information of tutors and provide functions such as counseling and activity records, midterm warning counseling, and off-campus residential visits to help tutors understand the relevant background of students. and also use the system functions to record the relevant history of counseling students.
    2. Other administrative assistance : The Residential Services Section of the Office of the Dean of Students provides living counseling for residential students; the Counseling Section provides psychological counseling; the Student Services Section includes information on applying for scholarships and grants (including scholarships, emergency relief grants, work-study grants, etc.); and the Health Care Section provides information on medical care and student group insurance.
